Minnesota Wing Swing Big Band Hangar Dance origCAF Minnesota Wing Spring Swing Big Band Hangar Dance

The Commemorative Air Force Minnesota Wing announced that the Spring Swing Big Band Hangar Dance is set for Saturday, June 4, 2016.  Admission to the Swing Dance is $15  per person at the door or $12.50 in advance. Admission goes towards the museum and their restoration efforts.

The CAF Minnesota Wing has been hosting the WWII themed dances since the early 1980s. This year they are working with local businesses such as Heimie's Habedashery in St. Paul, and Surly Brewing Company. Anthony Andler, owner of Heimie's will be co-judging this year's costume contest which takes place during the second intermission. Those who dress up in WWII period dress have the chance to win a wonderful gift certificate from local vintage shops like Via's Vintage in Minneapolis. Surly Brewing Company was introduced to dance goers two years ago and has been a crowd favorite ever since. The CAF is excited to continue the tradition again this year.
Minnesota Wing Swing Big Band Hangar Dance 2
The Roseville Big Band will be playing 1940s style Big Band music and a dance lesson will be given by Terry & Cindy Gardner of TC Swing from 7-8 p.m. So even if you have two left feet, the dance will give you an opportunity to try your hand at swing dancing. The Minnesota State Fire Service Memorial Pipe band will also be there to play a few songs to honor veterans throughout the evening. In addition to the music, dancing, and food, there will also be an engine run-up with the museum's historic WWII B-25 Miss Mitchell. A sight you don't want to miss!
