The Commemorative Air Force Minnesota Wing Museum is proud to announce the unveiling of its Memorial Garden on Saturday, August 8, 2015. The day will begin with the unveiling ceremony at 11:30 a.m. followed by a flyover and lunch. Children's activities will also be taking place during the day.The MN Wing has been working with local vendors such as The Paver Doctors, Hedberg Landscape & Masonry Supplies and North Country Wood Craft to create a special place to honor, recognize and remember friends and loved ones who served in the Armed Forces or assisted in our country's time of need.
In addition to the Memorial Brick Patio, the museum has also created a Butterfly garden to help attract both Monarch Butterflies and honey bees. "It's one of the ways that we (the museum) can give back," stated Amy Lauria, the Wing's Public Information Officer. "We hope that with the Memorial and Butterfly Garden, we can provide a place for families to come and honor their loved ones and enjoy a beautiful garden in our community."
On the day of the unveiling, we will also be inviting families with children to put together a stone for our butterfly garden. Stones will be picked at random and displayed in the garden. The flyover taking place will be with the Wing's very own WWII B-25 Bomber, Miss Mitchell.
